2 New AT&T Commercials To Verizon: Headless and Marbles

3 12 2009

The carrier wars between Verizon and AT&T continue as AT&T just put out two more commercials that are to air later tonight. Check em out.

Marbles

The one shows Verizon’s Map “Story” falling apart. It just goes over the facts about AT&T and Verizon once again.

Headless:

This one shows AT&T’s and Verizon’s Download Speed against each other. Luke Wilson downloads himself and AT&T downloads faster than Verizon of course.

Snappy – Snap a Photo from any Application!

Snappy is a new application that is now available in the App Store and is available for only $1.99.

Snappy is a application that allows you to take a photo from any application. You hold the status bar down for a couple seconds and the camera screen pops up ready to take a picture! This is great for the priceless moments with your kids or when you wanna snap a quick shot of your girlfriend!

It’s roughly 6x faster than opening up the camera regularly by exiting or sliding to unlock or so. It also works from the lockscreen! It’s available in Cydia now!

AT&T’s New Commercial – Side by Side

21 11 2009

In case you’ve been under a rock, below is AT&T’s new commercial response to Verizon. Of course Verizon has been dissing the iPhone with the DROID commercials and AT&T’s 3G network by saying Verizon’s is superior which it isn’t obviously as AT&T responded through it’s website.

The ad stars Luke Wilson, and what he does is compare AT&T and Verizon in 4 different areas. Nations fastest 3G network, AT&T’s ability to allow you to talk and surf at the same time, access too more than 100,000 applications, and the best smartphones to choose from.

What Can You Really Do With Mobile Safari?

21 11 2009

Developers of JQTouch call this “A jQuery plugin for mobile web development on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and other forward-thinking devices.” What they’re basically showing you in the video is what’s possible in the MobileSafari web browser. I think this is amazing to be completely honest. Watch the video and you can see that it looks like a native application, one you’d get from the App Store or Cydia. It’s really in Safari though which is surprising.

Check out the video and let me know what you think.

The Largest iPhone Heist To Date?

18 11 2009
Stolen iPhones

Stolen iPhones

Over the weekend, 3,000 to 4,000 iPhone’s were stolen, reports Philip Elmer-DeWitt.

Someone cut a hole in a warehouse where the iPhone’s were kept in Willebroek, Belgium. The authorities believe it to be a inside job as the hole was cut directly above where the iPhone’s were kept.
The location was most likely targeted due to the SIM-unlocked iPhones. Meaning that of course any SIM could be used for any carrier.

Anyone, though, looking to buy one off the thief is out of luck. Mobistar, Apple’s Belgian carrier said,”We have the serial numbers of the stolen iPhones block[ed] anyway so they cannot be used,”

GeoHot: “Get a Jailbreak cop and then I’ll show them what I can really do.”

13 11 2009

GeoHot portrait on blackra1n.com

In a recent interview, Jay Freeman (saurik), George Hotz (geohot), and even the Dev-Team were in a interview, mainly Hotz. It talked about the jailbreak community for the most part as well as how the jailbreak came to be. It also included details about Hotz’s new jailbreak and unlock for the iPhone.

It also went along to talked about Saurik’s Cydia store which is basically the underground App Store where developers go of course when Apple rejects them from it’s App store, and boy have we seen some rejections that have made no sense.

In the last part of the interview, Hotz talks about Apple’s new job ad looking for a iPhone OS Security Manager. Also Hotz says he has a exploit that will jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 4th generation, which should be available next summer, and Hotz hasn’t even laid his hands on the device yet.

Hotz final comments were as follows: “Personally I love that Apple keeps the iPhone closed,” Hotz said. “This is a personal hobby; it’d be no fun if Apple didn’t have it closed anymore. Get a Jailbreak cop and then I’ll show them what I can really do.”
